Matt Dillon was born on February 18, 1964, in New Rochelle, New York in a Roman Catholic family. He is the son of Mary Ellen, a homemaker and Paul Dillon, a portrait painter and sales manager. He was raised along with his five siblings: one sister and four brothers.
He is American by nationality and belongs to the Irish descent with some Scottish and German ancestry.
