Miami’s Andy Garcia Cast in ‘Book Club’ Movie About ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’

Longtime Miami resident Andy Garcia has been cast in the upcoming movie, “Book Club,” which follows a group of friends in their 60s who read “Fifty Shades of Grey” in their monthly book club.

The comedy, which is set in California, also stars Jane Fonda, Diane Keaton, Candice Bergen and Mary Steenburgen, according to Deadline.com.

As their characters read the sex-infused book, which became a bestselling global phenomenon five years ago when it was dubbed “mommy porn,” they find that it changes their lives.

The movie’s director, Bill Holderman, co-wrote the script with Erin Simms.

Garcia, 61, has been busy lately.

Deadline.com also reports that Garcia was recently cast opposite Peter Dinklage in HBO’s “My Dinner With Hervé” about the late Hervé Villechaize, the actor who became famous as the co-star of the 1970s ABC show “Fantasy Island.”

In October, Garcia will star in the sci-fi movie, “Geostorm,” about a network of satellites that control global climate and attack the planet, according to IMDB.com. Garcia plays the president of the United States in that movie.

The Miami Beach Senior High School graduate has also appeared in the recent movies “Passengers” and “Max Steel” and in the HBO football comedy, “Ballers.”
