Minecraft Glow Squid and Glow Ink

After a long wait, the first part of the Minecraft Caves and Cliffs update is here. It brings changes to popular mobs and items like Glow Squid and Glow Ink.

Minecraft Glow Squid

The Glow Squid is a variant of squid that comes with an aqua luminescent texture, or in simple words, it glows!

Its AI is identical to that of a plain old Squid in Minecraft. Glow Squid swims around aimlessly and dies if it is left out of water for too long.

However, unlike the normal Squid, the Glow Squid has a dynamic texture that keeps on shifting constantly, giving it the iconic glowing effect. The glowing spots on its body keep on pulsating and its eyes blink regularly.

The Glow Squid was the winning mob of the Minecraft Live 2020 mob vote, and this is why it was added in the new Minecraft Caves and Cliffs update.

How To Find Glow Squids In Minecraft – Spawn Locations

Since Glow squids are aquatic creatures, so they are found in underground water. They spawn in swamps and lush caves biomes.

You can spot them in groups of 2-4 underwater in total darkness. They can also be found in locations where there is a block with base_stone_overworld tag (that is, stone, deepslate, andesite, diorite, granite or tuff) less than 5 blocks below the spawning space.

Can You Breed Glow Squids In Minecraft?

There is currently no way to breed Glow Squids In Minecraft. But in the Minecraft Bedrock Edition, 5% of glow squid spawn as baby glow squid.

Minecraft Glow Ink Sac And Glow Item Frame

When Glow Squids get killed they drop 1 to 3 Glow Ink Sacs which illuminates brightly. The maximum amount is increased by 1 per level of Looting, for a maximum of 1–6 with Looting III. Do note that killing a baby glow squid yields no items or experience.

Unlike regular ink sacs, it can be added to signs to make glowing text and can be used to craft glow item frames.

To craft a Glow Item Frame by combining a Glow Ink Sac with an Item Frame in a Crafting Table. Any item in a Glow Item Frame shines brightly, even at night!

Get A Glowing Sign Text Using Glow Ink Sac In Minecraft

Glow ink sacs can be used on signs to make their text brighter in low light levels. So you can get a glowing Sign Text by interacting the text with a Glow Ink Sac.

To revert the glowing text back to default, just use normal ink sacs on the text.
