Ms. Pat, born Patricia Williams in Atlanta, Georgia in 1972, grew up in a tough West end neighborhood to a single mother of five who relied on welfare. She became pregnant at the age of 14 and then again at 15, both times with a man eight years her senior who had been sexually abusing her since she was 12. Ms. Pat had also been sexually abused by a man her mother had dated previously.

At 15, Ms. Pat began selling drugs under the street name “Rabbit.” She had several run-ins with the law during her teenage years and was shot twice.
