Pokémon Scarlet & Violet: How to Catch Shiny Pokémon Through Isolation

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have a very easy method of catching Shiny Pokémon through isolation. Even trainers without a Shiny Charm are able to do this as long as they have Herba Mysticas unlocked. Through Sandwich Making during a Picnic, trainers are able to try every sandwich recipe and select the type of Pokémon they see in a specific area. For example, a Psychic-type Sandwich near Casseroya Lake will have Slowpoke show up more on land.

Shiny Pokémon historically were caught through “chaining” or hatching with the Masuda Method, but now with isolation, trainers can encounter more than 1 shiny within a 30-minute time frame. Making it even easier, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet also have Pokémon Encounters, clustering species together in one area for capture on a daily basis. If a trainer chooses to do so they can either wait for a specific species to pop-up or turn off Wi-Fi regional time and reset their clock.

General Set-Up for Shinies

Trainers in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet should first always look at the ingredients they have before isolating a shiny Pokémon. Make it easier to find one with the best shiny sandwich recipes that require Herba Mystica and a specific ingredient. To save resources, turn off the Auto-Save feature and do a hard save in an environment in which the trainer wants to catch a shiny. Find a spot to make a picnic and depending on what Pokemon-type was in the sandwich the encounter rate should also increase. Run around or Picnic reset and eventually trainers will spot a Shiny Pokémon.

Finding Shiny Pokémon in the Asado Desert

Two coveted Pokémon to shiny hunt by isolation are found in the Asado Desert of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. These two Pokémon are Larvesta which evolves into Volcarona and Orthworm which is one of the Titans of Paldea that trainers defeat for Herba Mystica.

After setting up a picnic trainers can either choose a recipe with a main ingredient of Red Bell Pepper for Fire-type Power or Hamburgers for Steel-type Power. Now trainers can run around the desert or Picnic Reset and have an easier time finding these two targeted Pokémon due to them being the only elemental type in the area.
