Pawn Shop Blaze in Davie Accidental, Fire Marshal Says

Flames scorched the front of a pawn shop in Davie early Friday but no one was injured.

The fire was reported about 6:45 a.m. before Crown Pawn and Gun opened for business at 6948 Stirling Road, police said.

After viewing surveillance footage, a Davie fire marshal determined the blaze was accidental and electrical.

Crown Pawn general manager Jerry Olano said the damage appeared to be in the front of the store. The wall above and below the front window was charred by flames.

Personnel from Davie Fire Rescue had to cut the security bars from the windows to fight the flames.

“We have electronics in there, we have guns, jewelry,” Olano said. “It’s a mixture of everything.”

There were no reports of any ammunition going off as a result of the heat and flames, he said.
