Enable or disable the Windows 10, 8, or 7 Superfetch (otherwise known as Prefetch) feature.
Superfetch caches data so that it can be immediately available to your application.
It tends to not work well with gaming, but can improve performance with business apps.
What does the Superfetch service do?
SuperFetch is a technology in Windows Vista and onwards that is often misunderstood. SuperFetch is part of Windows’ memory manager; a less capable version, called PreFetcher, is included in Windows XP. SuperFetch tries to make sure often-accessed data can be read from the fast RAM instead of the slow hard drive.
Can I disable Superfetch service?
Yes! There is no risk of side effects if you decide to turn it off. Our recommendation is that if your system is running well, leave it on. If you have issues with high HDD usage, high RAM usage, or degraded performance during RAM-heavy activities, then try turning it off and see if it helps.
