Rhona Mitra was born on 9th August 1976 in Paddington, Hampstead, London. She was Nora Downey, an Irish lady, and Anthony Mitra, a cosmetic surgeon from Indian Bengali Descent. As siblings, she has an older brother Jason and a younger brother Guyana. Her younger brother is a travel writer who still works for “The Sunday Times” and “Lonely Planet.” 

She attended all-girls school Roedean in Brighton, East Sussex, although she was expelled for driving a car to a boy’s school nearby. Her parents also divorced in 1984.

She was involved in the club culture of London for several years. She took a three years course in drama school as per her interest. As her interest was deep, she performed very well, and she got the opportunity to get some minor roles in Theatre.
