Ridley’s third episode will air on ITV on September 11, 2022, at 8:00 p.m.

Swansong, this week’s murder mystery, gets under way when Alex Ridley meets jazz singer Eve Marbury by chance. Eve Marbury convinces the singing sleuth to assist in looking into her brother’s death.

But after a woman is discovered dead, the 40-year-old case gains new momentum as long-buried secrets start to come to light.

George Costigan, a veteran of nearly 90 acting roles over a nearly 50-year career, plays Ray Trevice in episode 3.

The actor most recently portrayed Patrick Fairbank in Line of Duty, Happy Valley, The Great Train Robbery miniseries, and Gentleman Jack. In 2010, he played Charlie Haynes in over 50 episodes of Emmerdale.

Bryan Dick as Jed Varnham

With more than 60 roles under his belt, Carlisle native Bryan Dick will be a familiar face to many. He has notable recent roles in The Split, Capital, Wolf Hall, Death in Paradise, Silent Witness, All the Small Things, Ashes to Ashes, and the 2011 TV movie Eric & Ernie, in which he played Ernie Wise.

Joanna Riding as Eve Marbury

In episode 3, Joanna Riding plays the alluring jazz singer Eve Marbury. Since making her television debut in Jeeves and Wooster in 1991, the actress has consistently appeared on our screens. She has since made appearances in Stella, McDonald & Dodds, Where the Heart Is, and the 2014 Disney film Into the Woods.

Jack Deam as Duncan Darwin

Fans of murder mysteries will recognise the Oldham-born actor Jack Deam from the BBC’s Father Brown, where he played Inspector Mallory. He has also appeared in shows like Silent Witness, DCI Banks, Broke, Life on Mars, Clocking Off, and Shameless, where he played Marty Fisher in more than 40 episodes.

Hopi Grace as Julie Conway

Hopi Grace, an actress, made her acting debut in 2019, but she already has a number of well-known films on her resume, including Vera, Time, which stars Sean Bean, and Netflix’s The Sandman.

Lucy Robinson as Liza Varnham
