Rmd Takes on New Role as Chairman of Anakle Films

Renowned actor and film producer Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD) has joined Anakle Films, the production company behind the Netflix film The Black Book, in which he stars. As part of the acquisition of RMD Productions Limited by Anakle Films, RMD will serve as the Chairman of the Board of Directors. This collaboration has resulted in a slate of 14 exciting projects, including films and television series spanning various genres such as drama and thrillers. Production for the first of these projects is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2024.

“The journey to The Black Book was transformative for me, both professionally and personally. Working with Editi Effiong and embracing the challenges of my role was exhilarating. As I step into my new position at Anakle Films, I am thrilled to contribute to the growth and innovation of African storytelling. Our rich history and vibrant culture deserve to be shared with audiences worldwide. The Black Book is just the beginning of what we can achieve,” RMD expressed.

Editi Effiong, the director of The Black Book, emphasized the storytelling talents abundant in Nigeria and the significance of having RMD on board Anakle Films. Effiong stated, “Nigerians are amazing storytellers. It is a fundamental part of our identity. However, we have often been distant in the creative storytelling genre, especially when it comes to confronting the harsh realities of military rule and corruption that have affected our nation. With Richard Mofe-Damijo joining our team, we will bring a new level of excellence to our storytelling.”

The Black Book made its debut on Netflix on Friday, September 22, 2023. This fictional film explores Nigeria’s complex history, delving into topics such as military dictatorship, drug trafficking, and politics through the journey of a retired hitman seeking justice.
