Sean May is a former American basketball player who is currently working as an assistant coach at the University of North Carolina (UNC). 

Before being appointed an assistant coach at UNC, May served as the university’s director of basketball operations. 

Sean was well known for his rebounding abilities, which were his most affable asset.

He was named on the McDonald’s High School All-American team in 2002 and USA Basketball Male Athlete of the Year in 2004.

Similarly, he accumulated the NCAA championship and earned the NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player in 2005.

Apart from being a coordinated hoopster throughout his NBA career, his formidable injuries in 2007 ended his long tenure.

Early Life & Family

An athletic hoopster, Sean Gregory May, was born in Chicago, Illinois, on April 4, 1984. 

He was raised by a supportive mother, Debbie, and an athletic father, Scott May, an American former professional basketball player. 

His father was drafted in 1976 by Chicago Bulls and played till 1988.

Growing Up In An Athletic Family

The competitive 6 feet 9 inches Scott May played basketball with the University of North Carolina, then several teams of the NBA, and received acclaim for his achievements.

He earned the NCAA championship in 1976 and NBA All-Rookie First Team in 1977.

Sean shared his athletic companionship with his father Scott May and older brother, Scott May Jr., who also retains a keen interest in basketball and played for the University of Indiana.

His father won a championship with Indiana University Hoosiers in the mid-70s and became the Player of the Year.

His older brother attended Indiana and made it to the National Championship title Game in 2002 for Hoosiers. 

Sean was expected to attend Indiana but decided to go to North Carolina and didn’t fail to amaze the folks.
