Avoid Contact: Avoid contact with your neighbor(s) until the building has been cleared by a pest management professional. If they're not cautious, your neighbor's clothing or belongings may be carrying bed bugs. Check Your Belongings: Check your belongings and shoes before entering your unit.
Can you get bed bugs if your neighbor has them?
If you live in a townhouse, condo, or apartment where you share a wall with your neighbor, bed bugs can easily travel through vents, across pipes, and between electrical outlets and walls. If you live in a detached home, it's less common for your neighbors to spread bed bugs to your home but not impossible.
What do you do if you stay at a friend's house that has bed bugs?
Remove and kill any visible bed bugs. Regularly steam-clean the couch if possible. Use bed-bug-killing products such as diatomaceous earth around the home, to control the bed bug population. Hire a professional exterminator to get rid of the infestation.
