ASIO4All is perfect if all you need is playback from the DAW, but you don't have an audio interface connected. I have occasionally used it that way myself, to play some mix in the DAW when I had my laptop with me but, for some reason, none of my audio interfaces around.
Do I have to install ASIO4ALL?
This software is known for its abundance of DAWs (Ableton even recommends Asio4all for those who don't have native ASIO). To set it up, you need to access your DAW Preferences and choose Asio4all as the driver. All in all, you just need to install and open the DAW and everything will be fine.
Do I need ASIO4ALL for cakewalk?
For DAWs like Cakewalk, REAPER, Studio One, etc. you should just use WASAPI. You aren't going to gain anything using ASIO4ALL. Latency will be comparable, and you're still monitoring and recording through the same sound card.
