Should Pearl Gourami Be Kept in Groups?

Keeping Pearl Gourami Together
You can keep these fish on their own, but they do much better in a group of around four or more. They're social animals so you'll see a lot more of their natural behaviors when keeping a shoal of them.

Should gourami be kept in groups?

Gouramis Behavior/Compatibility

Male gouramis have a tendency to be aggressive towards each other, so they should typically be kept individually. Female gouramis usually tolerate each other well. Mixing different species or color varieties of gouramis should only be done in larger, well decorated tanks.

Should Pearl Gouramis be kept in pairs?

You can keep them singly but they do much better when in groups of 4 or more. They are quite social and I find that keeping them alone isn't nearly as beautiful as keeping a group. You also won't see as much natural behavior. In your size tank I suggest a least a group of 1 male and at least 3 females.
