Should Snails Be Quarantined?

In our experience, snails rarely seem to carry illnesses, so we usually skip the quarantine step and add them directly to our aquariums.

How long quarantine snails?

If you want to quarantine snails in the off chance that there is an Ich cyst on their shell, then leaving them in a fishless environment for 6 weeks should suffice. Any encysted Ich will need a fish host once they hatch. Finding none, they will die. 6-8 weeks should be sufficient.

Should I quarantine my aquarium plants?

It's advised to quarantine new plants before adding them to your aquarium. Quarantining aquarium plants is a way of treating the plants and making them free of disease-causing microorganisms.
