Should You Sleep with Red Led Lights on?

Generally speaking, red light at night doesn't seem to interfere with sleep like blue light does. In fact, it may actually improve your sleep. While more research is needed, the current evidence seems to indicate that red light at night doesn't disturb sleep.

Why should you not sleep with red lights on?

Blue light, the type that comes from electronic devices, has shorter wavelengths (450 and 495 nm). Blue light has been implicated in keeping us awake at night—that's why experts recommend turning off your devices well before bedtime. But red light may have the opposite effect and aid in creating drowsiness.

What happens if you fall asleep with LED lights on?

Light exposure before or during bedtime can make it difficult to fall and stay asleep because your brain won't make enough sleep-inducing melatonin. Even if you do manage to fall asleep with lights on in your bedroom, you may not get enough rapid eye movement (REM) sleep.
