Dr. Kenneth Hewitt, a Welshman, is her father’s name, and Dr. Farida Hewitt, a Pakistani woman, is her mother’s name. Each of Hewitt’s parents is an Anglican Christian. Thus she was reared as a Christian. However, she is of Canadian nationality and is of mixed ethnicity as her mother is from Pakistan and her father is from Canada. Sitara spent her youth in the Himalayan Mountains and Gilgit-Hunza Baltistan’s Valley, where her parents conducted a scholarly field study on the Himalayan Mountains’ glaciers as well as in the tiny communities of the Hunza lowlands. She received her acting training in Toronto.
