Steve Alford

Stephen Todd Alford, also known as Steve Alford, is a retired American basketball coach. He is the current head coach of the University of Nevada’s Nevada Wolf Pack of the Mountain West Conference, and he was previously the head coach of the UCLA Bruins men’s basketball team. Alford was selected by the Dallas Mavericks in the second round of the 1987 NBA Draft, 26th overall. He retired as a player after four years and went on to become a college basketball coach. Before coming to UCLA, he coached at Manchester, Southwest Missouri State, Lowa, and New Mexico. After a 7-6 record this season, he was fired by the Bruins in late December 2018.

Alford, who is married and has three children with his wife, was recently in the spotlight after being suspected of being the top contender for the Arkansas Razorbacks’ head coaching job following the departure of Mike Anderson. In 2019, his annual salary was reported to be $2.6 million, but he is currently not involved in any coaching jobs.
