Taurean Prince: Relationship & Arrest [2023 Update]

From rags to riches! The phrase is no different to American basketball player Taurean Prince who went from being homeless to a notable NBA figure.

Currently, he plays small forward for Minnesota Timberwovles (2021- now).

A 12th overall pick of the Utah Jazz in the 2016 NBA Draft, Prince was immediately traded to Atlanta Hawks, where he made his NBA debut.

Afterward, the NBA star played hoops with Brooklyn Nets & Cleveland Cavaliers before the Minnesota Timberwolves signed him on a two-year extension until the 2023-24 season.

Though he is struggling to make it into the starting lineup for the Timberwolves.

As much as Tauren tries to deliver his best on the court, his thoughts for the community are the same.

The former Nets player is active in several charity causes, including pediatric cancer & child welfare.

Early Life | Parents’ Divorce & Homelessness

Taurean Waller-Prince was born March 22, 1994, in San Marcos, Texas, to Anthony Prince and Tamiyko Prince, an aging and disability officer.

However, his parents divorced when he was young- his father had been in & out of jail then.

As a result, Waller-Prince & his younger sister Catina went to live with their mother, Tamiyko, in a two-bedroom apartment in San Antonio.

Currently, Catina is a cosmetologist & is married to her boyfriend-turned-husband, who goes by the IG handle @idekjamal.

Despite the separation, Taurean was never away from adoration for his father. So in 2006, while in middle school, he moved out from his mother’s place & went to live with his dad.

Reportedly, the future NBA star & his dad lived with their paternal grandmother.

But after Prince’s grandma died of cancer, the father-son duo became homeless & spent months sleeping at the Salvation Army in San Angelo, but ‘never told his mom about that.’

And when his dad Anthony was caught writing bad checks, he turned himself in while Taurean was taken in by his best friend Bowdy Thompson’s mother, Candina.

Later, Taurean Prince would return to his mother.

A Half-Brother From Mother’s Side

The Timberwolves player has a half-brother named Derrick Prince from his mother Tamiyko’s relationship with her longtime boyfriend following her divorce from Anthony.

As reported, Taurean’s mom’s boyfriend was fatally shot & died when Derrick (his half-brother) was still unborn.

From his father’s side, the basketball star has a step-mother named Cayonna Morgan & a sister named Isis Johnson.
