Carotid artery ultrasound search pattern

Carotid US: arteries included= CCA, bulb, ICA, ECA, vert
Grayscale: look for plaque, intimal thickening
Color: artery should fill in almost completely (no soft plaque), forward flow in verts (no steal)
Doppler waveform: low resistance waveform, no parvus tardus waveform
Velocity: peak systolic <125 cm/s =neg; 125-230 cm/s = 50-69% stenosis; >230cm/s = >70% stenosis (see chart in ultrasound)
