Alas, Constantine didn’t kickstart a franchise as some involved in the project had hoped. The movie — from first-time director Francis Lawrence (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) — earned only $75 million domestically. The $100 million production did eke out a profit internationally, reaching $230 million worldwide.
Who is the new Constantine?
Specifically, Doctor Who alum Jenna Coleman was cast as Johanna Constantine and will play two versions of the character in the series, both the eighteenth-century ancestor of John Constantine as well as the present-day version.
Why is Constantine hated?
He’s flawed, amoral, has atrocious personal habits, disloyal, venal and untrustworthy. But he’s also a street-level anti-hero going up against far more powerful entities. It’s easy to dislike him.
