He was one of the most powerful figures in the Nazi Party, which ruled Germany from 1933 to 1945. A veteran World War I fighter pilot ace, Göring was a recipient of the Pour le Mérite ("The Blue Max").

What happened to Goering?

He was tried at Nuremberg and charged with various crimes against humanity. Despite a vigorous attempt at self-acquittal, he was found guilty and sentenced to be hanged, but before he could be executed, he died by suicide by swallowing a cyanide tablet he had hidden from his guards.

Where is Goering buried?

Ms Goering was also the daughter of Hitler's deputy Hermann Goering, who played a key role in the Nazi regime, establishing the feared Gestapo secret police force. She died in December, although her death was not made public at the time, and has been buried in the Waldfriedhof Cemetery in Munich.
