Watch: Disturbing Deepfake Video of Jennifer Lawrence and Steve Buscemi Will Haunt You

A recently released video of Jennifer Lawrence's speech backstage at the 2016 Golden Globes has been going viral. Now, the reason for the widely circulated video is not because of its great content but a terrifying face and voice swap that has been achieved by the maker of the video. In the video, actor Steve Buscemi’s face is seamlessly molded onto Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence’s head and the video raises concerns about the advancements of ‘deepfake’ videos.

According to reports, the video, which will probably haunt you, was developed by a Reddit User VillainGuy and shared at the beginning of January. It has since been shared thousands of times. On YouTube, VillainGuy simply wrote: 'Steve Buscemi + Jennifer Lawrence discussing her favorite/least favorite housewives on the Bravo channel. Trained on my custom model, trying to achieve more detail!' The video shows the body and voice of Jennifer Lawrence but with Steve Buscemi's face.The face swap and the expressions are on point and that's what makes the video creepy. Deep-fake videos have become a growing concern in the last few years with celebrities bearing the brunt of it. Deep-fake is an artificial intelligence-based technique. The videos are digitally-altered by combining and superimposing existing images and videos onto source images or videos. In the past, a similar video appeared to show former president Barack Obama calling Donald Trump a ‘total and complete dips***'. 

 As per a Daily Mail report, numerous celebrities have been the victims of deep-fakes porn, including Gal Gadot and Emma Watson, in which their face has been superimposed to that of a pornstar in a video.
