How do you replace a water valve? Replacing a water valve is a relatively simple plumbing project. If your old valve is bolted or bolted directly to the pipe, you can simply unscrew it and replace it with a new valve. Other valves are attached to the pipe with a union nut, which can be loosened and replaced with a new union nut.

How do you turn off a water valve?

Turn off the water inside, when the valve is closed, turn the handle clockwise until it stops. If it is a ball valve, turn the handle until it is perpendicular to the pipe. This shuts off the water from the outside tap.
