Where can scabies be found?
Though almost any part of the body may be involved, in adults and older children scabies is most often found:
- Between the fingers.
- In the armpits.
- Around the waist.
- Along the insides of the wrists.
- On the inner elbows.
- On the soles of the feet.
- Around the breasts.
- Around the male genital area.
What environment do scabies live in?
Scabies is an infestation of the skin by the human itch mite (Sarcoptes scabiei var. hominis). The microscopic scabies mite burrows into the upper layer of the skin where it lives and lays its eggs.
