A quick recap of AP bruisers: these are melee(or very low ranged) juggernauts or fighters that utilize AP. These include: Morde, Lillia, Rumble, Singed, Sylas, Gragas, Diana, Cho'gath etc. These champions, for the past several seasons, have been made to build either full tank or full ap, and survive off of that.
Why are ap items so bad?
Most of them have either high ap values, high secondary values or both in addition to passives/actives. A reduction in price would only be reasonable if stats or abilities got toned down a lot. Almost all ap items are all about burst and those who are not good at bursting, can't use them.
What is a bruiser in games?
Bruisers are just characters that can take a decent amount of damage while also dealing a decent amount of damage. It's not a strictly defined term but people tend to use it when talking about characters that are powerful in one-on-one fights.
