Contents

ulimit is admin access required Linux shell command which is used to see, set, or limit the resource usage of the current user. It is used to return the number of open file descriptors for each process. It is also used to set restrictions on the resources used by a process.

How do you check Ulimits?

You can check the ulimits for any process ID by reading /proc/<pid>/limits, where <pid> is replaced by the numeric pid of the process. New processes will inherit the ulimits of the parent process. The ulimit command is specific to each terminal. The arguments are not the same from bash to sh to zsh.

What is Docker Ulimits?

Docker ulimits limit a program’s resource utilization to prevent a run-away bug or security breach from bringing the whole system down. The default limit for Amazon AWS is 1024, which is not enough for Sisense to run properly.
