What Are Vfr Flyways?

VFR Flyways.
A VFR Flyway is defined as a general flight path not defined as a specific course, for use by pilots in planning flights into, out of, through or near complex terminal airspace to avoid Class B airspace. An ATC clearance is NOT required to fly these routes.

What are VFR Flyway charts?

Flyway Planning Charts depict flight paths and altitudes recommended for use to by-pass areas heavily traversed by large turbine-powered aircraft. Ground references on these charts provide a guide for visual orientation.

What is the difference between a VFR Flyway and a VFR transition route?

Bidirectional VFR transition routes are marked with an arrow at both ends. These routes, like unidirectional routes, are used to keep air traffic flowing into and out of busy airports. VFR flyways, like what you see in the image below, are marked with a thick blue border with arrows on either end.
