  • Don't vigorously clean the periurethral area.
  • Don't irrigate the bladder with antimicrobials.

What activities can I do with a catheter?

You should be able to live a relatively normal life with a urinary catheter. The catheter and bag can be concealed under clothes, and you should be able to do most everyday activities, including working, exercising, swimming and having sex.

Can you walk with a catheter?

There is no reason why you can't lead an active life with a urinary catheter. However some activities, such as running or walking long distances, may cause friction or discomfort.
