Thrips are primarily phytophages; that is, they eat plants and parts of plants, such as pollen, flowers, leaves, fruits, twigs, or buds. They consume flower heads of daisies and dandelions.
How do you feed thrips?
Most thrips encountered in production nurseries are pale to dark brown, but may sometimes be black (Fig. 1). They have tiny needle like mouthparts that feed by rupturing the outer layer of plant cells and sucking up cell contents.
How do you treat Chili thrips?
Products that contain active ingredients such as imidacloprid, acetamiprid, spinetoram, or pyrethroids are effective against thrips, and may be available to home gardeners. Horticultural soap, oils, and other products may be available as organic controls.
