What Does a Flash Dryer Do

A flash dryer is used in screen printing in one of two ways. In a production setting, a screen printing flash dryer is used to set or gel the ink in order to print another color beside or on top of it. A flash dryer can also be used to do a final cure of the ink but this is not optimal for production.

How do flash dryers work?

Flash Drying Process Wet material is dispersed into a stream of heated air (or gas) which conveys it through a drying duct. Using the heat from the airstream, the material dries as it is conveyed. Product is separated using cyclones, and/or bag filters.

How long do you flash dry a shirt?

That usually takes six to eight seconds, but most people leave the garment under the flash dryer until the next garment has been printed and is ready to be flashed—significantly longer; it will take an excess of 30 seconds to load and print a one-color shirt.
