What Does Soow Cord Mean

SOOW Cable Overview SOOW stands for: S = Service Cord (600 Volts) OO = Oil Resistant both inside insulation and outside jacket. W = CSA designation for weather/water resistance. TYPE SOOW Cable is for use in heavy-duty industrial applications where flexibility and durability is required.

What is the difference between Soow and Sjoow cable?

SJOOW cord is rated for 300 volts, while SOOW cord is rated 600 volts. The “J” in SJOOW means “Junior”, to designate its lower voltage rating. Both types of service cord are resistant to abrasion, ozone, sunlight, chemicals, oil and have been approved for submersion in water.

Is Soow cable flexible?

The insulation material adds to the durability by making the cord resistant to oil as well. SOOW cord is also extremely flexible. The reason for this is the stranding of the copper conductors. Think of a solid piece of copper, it has little flexibility.
