What Is a Beer Shank

The Beer Shank also called a Faucet Shank is a key component of any draft beer despensing system. It’s what connects your beer line to your faucet. Most all shanks will come with a nipple for your beer line to connect to, those without a nipple are referred to as a Pass Through.

How does a beer shank work?

Shank: The shank is a thick, cylindrical chunk of metal with a thread pattern (7/8″-14) on the outside and a bore through the middle. Beer travels through the bore, and the external threads accept a lock nut (6) that keeps everything securely in place.

How big is a beer Shank?

Bores – The drilled hole in the center of the shank the beer passes through is referred to as the “bore.” Most beer shanks are available with either 3/16” I.D. (inside diameter) bore or 1/4” I.D. bore.
