What Is a Bush Cockroach

Polyzosteria mitchelli, also known as Mitchell’s diurnal cockroach or the Mardi Gras cockroach, is a species of bush cockroach found in Australia. It is a diurnal species and its typical habitat is semi-arid regions of Australia’s warm temperate zone.

Why do Bush cockroaches come inside?

Recent hot weather has created a perfect breeding ground for cockroaches and experts warn the coming cool weather is going to bring them indoors. Owen Stobart from ACES Pest Control said he has “just recently” seen an increase in cockroaches around Auckland.

What do Bush roaches eat?

They cart their loot – dry leaves, twigs and bark – underground to eat in the comfort of their chambers. They’re particularly partial to crispy Eucalyptus leaves.
