How do you perform an ABG test?

Uncap the ABG syringe, and hold it with two fingers of the dominant hand. The needle bevel should be facing upward. Insert the needle just under the skin at a 45ΒΊ angle, aiming in the direction of the artery, while palpating the radial pulse proximal to the puncture site with the nondominant hand (see the image below).
