What Is Coppock Indicator?

The Coppock curve or Coppock indicator is a technical analysis indicator for long-term stock market investors created by E.S.C. Coppock, first published in Barron's Magazine on October 15, 1962. The indicator is designed for use on a monthly time scale.

How does the Coppock indicator work?

Often, it is used with long-term time series such as a candlestick chart, but where each candle contains a month's worth of price information. When the indicator is above zero it indicates a hold. When the indicator drops below zero it indicates a sell, and when the indicator moves above zero it signals a buy.

How do you use KST indicator?

The KST is calculated by taking the simple moving average (SMA) of four different rate-of-change (ROC) periods, adding them together to come up with the KST, and creating a signal line by taking the 9-period SMA of the KST. Finally, the signal line is calculated by taking the 9-period SMA of the KST value.
