Coyoacan is an area of Mexico City known for its cobbled streets, art galleries, colourful buildings and artisan markets. With plenty of leafy parks, it feels like you’ve been whisked away to a peaceful village. It’s hard to imagine you’re in a city of 22 million!
Is Coyoacan worth visiting?
Coyoacan is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Mexico City. It’s a bit outside of the center but there’s so much to do and see there that it’s definitely worth the trip because you can easily spend a whole day exploring the shops, markets, restaurants, and national park (yep, you read that right) in Coyoacan!
Is Coyoacan safe at night?
While it’s safe to stroll around neighborhoods like Juarez, Roma, Coyoacan, Condesa, and Polanco at night, walking around Doctores and parts of the Centro south and west of Bellas Artes is a little riskier. Check with your hotel or vacation rental host for on-the-ground intel on what parts of town to avoid.
