What Is Lora Communication

LoRa is a wireless modulation technique derived from Chirp Spread Spectrum (CSS) technology. It encodes information on radio waves using chirp pulses – similar to the way dolphins and bats communicate! LoRa modulated transmission is robust against disturbances and can be received across great distances.

Why do we use LoRa?

LoRa is the radio layer enabling long-range communication. LoRaWAN is both the communication protocol and system architecture for IoT networks. The LoRa/LoRaWAN technology stack is the best choice for connected cities because of its long signal range and minimal power requirements.

Is LoRa a hardware or software?

This protocol helps in the quick setup of public or private IoT networks anywhere using hardware and software. LoRa is the physical layer i.e. the chip and LoRaWAN is the MAC layer i.e. the software that’s put on the chip to enable networking.
