What Is Nocino Liqueur

Nocino (No-chee-no) is a nutty, sweet liqueur made from unripe Ohio black walnuts, sugar and spices, released once a year in limited supply. The walnuts must be harvested prior to the nut forming and before they fall from the tree, creating a narrow window of time to produce this rarity.

What does nocino taste like?

What Does Nocino Taste Like? Unsurprisingly for a nut based drink, the flavour is nutty, and it is quite sweet too. Nocino tastes of walnut, although it’s not, perhaps, the kind of flavour one might expect from walnuts which have been turned into a drink.

What is nocino used for?

Traditionally, Nocino is sipped on its own as a digestif (an after-dinner drink) – just a little pour of something special that warms you from head to toe. But it’s great in cocktails too. We recommend using it in a Milk Punch, Walnut Manhattan, and Nocino Sour.
