What Is Process Exit Code

An exit code, or sometimes known as a return code, is the code returned to a parent process by an executable. On POSIX systems the standard exit code is 0 for success and any number from 1 to 255 for anything else.

What is process exit code 1?

exit code (1) means there was some issue which caused the program to exit. For example if your program is running on port :8080 and that port is currently in used or not closed, then you code ends up with exit code 1.

What is exit code 255 python?

For example, the code uses an API to interact with another piece of software. This software relies on a hardware licence (USB dongle) to be installed in teh computer, otherwise the software cannot be accessed by Python and the script exits with Exit Code 255.
