What Is Reclast Infusion?

Reclast (zoledronic acid) is an infusion medication used to treat Osteoporosis.

Are Reclast infusions safe?

There are concerns about the long-term safety of bisphosphonates (such as Reclast) as long-term use has been associated with atypical femur fractures, osteonecrosis of the jaw, and esophageal cancer. The risk of osteonecrosis of the jaw is greater in those who have received chemotherapy, radiation, or steroids.

How long does a Reclast infusion take?

IV infusions of Reclast take 30 minutes to complete. For treatment of osteoporosis, patients receive one 5mg dose per year. For all treatments, supplementation with calcium and Vitamin D is generally prescribed. Consult your doctor or infusion provider for more information about Reclast dosing.
