What happens when you tag someone on Twitter?
A mention is a Tweet that contains another person’s username anywhere in the body of the Tweet. We collect these messages, as well as all your replies, in your Notifications tab. If you include multiple usernames in your Tweet, all of those people will see your Tweet in their Notifications tab.
People use the hashtag symbol (#) before a relevant keyword or phrase in their Tweet to categorize those Tweets and help them show more easily in Twitter search. Clicking or tapping on a hashtagged word in any message shows you other Tweets that include that hashtag. Hashtags can be included anywhere in a Tweet.
