What Is the Difference Between Linear and Lineal?

Linear - refers to straight in line. Lineal refers to a measurement distance in a straight line.

Is lineal the same as linear?

Lineal is the adjective form of line but then there is also linear. Linear often is used to imply a straight line. I would use lineal where there is a line relationship, but the line does not have to be straight. Such as the lineal feet of fabric on a roll.

Is it lineal or linear feet?

Linear Feet. When measuring length, use the word “linear,” instead of “lineal.” Lineal means belonging to or being in direct line of descent from an ancestor. In Anglika's defence, I think she was saying that if someone (wrongly) said 'lineal feet' s/he would be understood as meaning linear feet.
