What Is the Step in Harness

As the name suggests, a step-in dog harness is one that your dog steps into with both front paws, with the harness fastening at the back. This type of harness is ideal for nervous dogs who object to having harnesses put on over their heads.

Is a step-in harness good?

While step-in harnesses are great for relaxed well-behaved pooches, they offer little influence over behavioral problems such as pulling. They also carry the risk of slipping over a dog’s head if they are adjusted too loosely.

Are Step-in harnesses bad for dogs?

NO! A wrongly fitted harness can affect a dog’s gait and movement. Several animal professionals, behaviourists, trainers and I would never recommend a harness that goes around a dog’s chest due to how they place pressure on a dog’s shoulder, restrict a dog’s movement and gait.
