Linux uses a lot of configuration files, you’ll often need to edit them and vim is a great tool to do so.
Vim has a particular working method, there are two main modes: the command mode and the other modes.
How do I get into Vim?
Quick start
- Launch Vim via the terminal: $ vim Main.java.
- You cannot type into or edit your file while in Command mode. To start typing into the file, you must switch to Vim’s Insert mode.
- When you’re done typing, press <Esc> to go back to Command mode. (The <Esc> key is your friend!
