What Makes Antigone a Rebel?

What makes Antigone a rebel is her decision to go bury her brother, with or without Ismene. In “The Royal House of Thebes”, Creon, the ruler of Thebes, forbids all citizens to bury Ismene and Antigone's brother Polynices, who is blamed for causing the war.

How is Antigone a rebel?

Because Antigone decided to rebel against government, and not listen to her sister, her life was taken. Although Antigone's rebellion was the most prominent we learned that Creon also rebelled, by disobeying to gods and refusing to give Polynices a proper burial, causing the play to end in tragedy.

Why is Antigone courageous?

Antigone portrays extremely courageous qualities, and definitely fights for what she believes in. She does not accept what the king says just because he is the king or a person in authority. She does not agree with his law so she goes with her heart and her feelings and disobeys the king's rule.
