Does AWS use AMD or Intel?
AWS now uses AMD Epyc Gen 1 and Gen 2. As of this moment in 2020 all instance families with the “a” designation are AMD based. So C5a, C5ad, M5a, R5a, T3a, etc. You will see better performance with C5a and all the instances are anywhere from 10%-45% less expensive than the Intel based versions.
