Tybalt Capulet himself symbolizes the anger and revenge that fuel the dissonant relationship between the two antagonistic families. Yet, Tybalt also has some good qualities, including his undying loyalty to the Capulets and immense skill at the sword.

The black heart surrounds the swords because Tybalt’s unorthodox heart is what makes him who he is, and that is what triggers the scene. This representation of swords shall hint at the outcome of his relationships with the people around him because his motive stays continuous throughout the book.

What is Tybalt known for?

Tybalt was a hotheaded, loyal swordsman who thought he was protecting the Capulet name. In the end, Tybalt’s anger and quick temper resulted not only in his own death, but in the death of Mercutio, which all ultimately led to the suicide of Romeo and Juliet.
