What Width Are Floorboards

Traditional flooring typically uses 2 ¼ inch to 3 inch wide planks. This style works well with most décor and has clean, consistent lines. It’s versatile and has general overall appeal. But over the years, as trends have changed, many have come to prefer wider plank flooring.

What is the standard width of floorboards?

Narrow plank widths can be anywhere from 70mm – 100mm. The narrow planks are usually solid wood, or parquet block flooring. Medium width flooring is anything between 125mm – 200mm. These are generally the most popular width of flooring and there tends to be much more choice.

How thick are wooden floorboards?

Solid wood floor is most commonly found in 15 to 20mm thickness. When choosing the thickness of engineered wood flooring, there are two different considerations to be taken into account. The first is the thickness of the overall board and the second is the thickness of the solid wood lamella or top layer.
