What's a Bib Tap?

A faucet with a nozzle that is bent downward; a bibb.

What is a bib tap used for?

The bib tap is made of brass and is primarily used as an outside tap or garden tap to provide an external water supply. The bib tap has a 1/2' inch male thread which makes it easy to connect on to a wall mounted fixing joined to a water pipe. Water pressure can be adjusted through the bib tap by adjusting the handle.

What is a bib tap with check valve?

A check valve on a garden tap is a requirement of the 1999 water Regulations. An isolation valve inside the property would enable you to shut off the water supply to the tap in winter helping to prevent the tap freezing.
